Final Meeting and Band Booster Opportunities

Our next Band Booster meeting is coming up on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00 in the Decatur Band Room. In the past we have found that impending graduations and end of year activities significantly impact attendance and effectiveness at a June meeting. Therefore, the May 7th meeting will be the last Band Booster meeting of this school year. We will be discussing potential fundraisers for the remainder of the year and possible plans for next year, as well as electing officers for next year’s Booster executive board. Please consider attending this year’s final meeting. Decatur band students are always welcome and encouraged to attend.

Your Consideration Requested
As many of you know, this is the final year for most of our officers. All have served multiple years and have greatly contributed to the Booster’s success for the benefit of Decatur band students. Their departures will leave vacancies on the executive board for next year. We are particularly in need of candidates for secretary and treasurer, but you are welcome to run for any officer position. If you have any questions or would like more information about any of the positions, please contact me for further information at decaturbandboosters@hotmail.com. If you would like to run for an officer position but are unable to attend the May 7th meeting, let me know and I will nominate you in absentia.

Please help support instrumental music education at Decatur and seriously consider your commitment to Booster involvement next year. Volunteers like you are critical to the continued success of the Decatur Band Boosters.

Thanks everyone, see you on Tuesday.

Big Band Showcase – Home Stretch

This year’s Big Band Showcase on March 23rd is almost here.  Things are falling into place but we still need help to pull it off.  Here’s where everyone can be the most help…

- We will be inventorying and assembling all received auction item donations on March 16th.  Therefore, it would be much appreciated if all auction items are received by March 15th.  While we will still accept donations right up to the day of the Showcase, it is very helpful if we can organize as much of the auction in advance as possible.  Auction items can be turned in to Mr. Sadowski or you can contact the Band Boosters at decaturbandboosters@hotmail.com to make alternate arrangements.

- Spread the word about the Showcase.  There’s a downloadable handbill under the link Big Band Showcase > Promotional Materials that you can use to help get the word out to friends, neighbors, and anyone that might want to attend.  We want to pack the place for this event.

- We will still need some help with items like set up, tear down and clean up, door sales, security, etc.  If you would like to help with anything like that, please contact me at the aforementioned email address and I’ll let you know how you could be most helpful.

Thanks everyone,
Brad

Wind Ensemble After School Practices

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

Greetings Wind Ensemble members and families,

Bad timing got the best of us this week, as I unfortunately became ill Tuesday and Wednesday. Consequently, two after-school rehearsals had to be canceled. I would like to ask all wind ensemble members to do their best to rearrange their schedules so we
can rehearse after school on Friday, 3/1, from 2:15 to 3:30. We simply must give our percussionists the time they need to play with the band before performing on Saturday morning. I have faith that with excellent preparation, our students can accomplish
this in one good rehearsal.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Matt Sadowski
