Make plans now to attend this unique concert with special guest clarinetist Christopher Bush on Friday, October 24th, 7:00PM at Decatur High School. And don’t forget the Masterclass on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:00PM in the Decatur Band Room. The Masterclass is open to all students and parents from any school, and will be valuable to all musicians (not just clarinetists). We hope you can take advantage of both of these fantastic opportunities.
The days are getting shorter, the air is getting cooler, the leaves are starting to turn, and the Decatur Band is back on the football field working up their marching routine for the Homecoming game on Oct. 17th. They’re looking and sounding great. Hope everyone can make it to the game to see and hear the finished product (and maybe take in a little Decatur football too).
October Booster Meeting
The October DHS Band Booster meeting is this coming up on Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00 in the band room. We will be discussing near term and longer term events for the band and the Boosters, including plans for our major fundraiser, the Big Band Showcase. We need to hear from both students and parents now to ensure success for all this years’ events. Bring your questions, comments and ideas, or just come to listen in and find out what’s going on. All are welcome, and more participation makes the load lighter for everyone.
Our first fundraiser of the year, Decatur Spirit Scarves are great for showing your support for Decatur and the band (and they’re warm too). They’re soft, snuggly fluorescent orange fleece, and they’re only $5. We’ll have them available at Decatur home football games, and at the upcoming Booster meeting. Get yours before it gets cold!
The first Booster meeting of the year is Wednesday night (9/17) in the band room, (immediately following the DHS open house). This one will be short and sweet, but important to set the tone for this year. Looking forward to seeing many students and parents!
